Restoring force

Restoring force is the phenomena that explains how a restoring force, or force that pushes an object back to its equilibrium state, can arise from a system that is not in equilibrium.

There are a few different ways in which restoring force can arise, but one of the most common ways is through dissipative structures. Dissipative structures are systems that are not in equilibrium, but nonetheless maintain their structural organization due to the continual flow of energy through them.
