Quanta

Quanta refers to the discrete packets of energy that make up all forms of radiation, including light. It is also the name for the fundamental physical unit of quantum mechanics.

In order to understand quanta, it is important to understand the wave-particle duality of light. This concept states that light can behave as either a particle or a wave, depending on the circumstances. When light is being observed as a particle, its quanta are individual photons.
