Projection pursuit refers to the tendency of individuals or groups to make biased or unsupported assumptions about the future in order to make decisions today.
This can take many forms, but one example is when individuals project their own characteristics onto other people or groups in order to form judgments or make decisions about them.
Projection pursuit can also take place when individuals make assumptions about how events will unfold, even if they do not have direct evidence for those assumptions.
