The principle quantum number is the main quantum number and it decides the energy of electrons in an atom. It determines the size and shape of the electron’s orbit.
The other quantum numbers that go with it are the magnetic quantum number, which decides the orientation of the orbit, and the spin quantum number, which tells you how many ways the electron can orient its spin.
