Positron

A positron is a subatomic particle that has the same mass as an electron, but the opposite electric charge.

Positrons are created in radioactive decay, when an atom’s nucleus emits a positron. Positrons can also be created in particle accelerators by slamming particles together at high speeds.

When a positron encounters an electron, they annihilate each other and create energy in the form of gamma radiation.
