Positive electric charge

Positive electric charge is a characteristic of certain subatomic particles, such as protons, that enables them to interact with other particles via the electromagnetic force.

Protons have a positive charge because they contain one more electron than they do protons. This surplus of electrons creates a negative electrical field around the proton that attracts other negatively charged particles.
