Lead Time Bias

Lead time bias is a systematic error in the estimation of average lead time. It arises when the estimated lead time for a product or service is biased by the distribution of lead times within the population from which the data were collected.

This bias may be introduced by inaccuracies in the information about customer demand, supplier availability, or manufacturing process.
