Bradford’s law

Bradford’s law states that the number of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) in a given population is inversely proportional to the degree of genetic diversity.

This phenomenon is most likely due to the increased rates of recombination that occur when populations are divided into subpopulations with different genotypes.

In highly diverse populations, there are many opportunities for incompatibilities between alleles, leading to DSBs.
