Abdominal Cavity

The abdominal cavity is a large, hollow cavity in the center of the abdomen that houses the stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas.

The abdominal wall muscles attach to the spine and ribs and help protect these organs. The diaphragm muscle also helps to keep the abdominal organs in place.
